HISTORY

Jakob had as good a childhood as anyone could have being born in the 1530’s to Mr. and Mrs. Cortlandt. At a young age Jakob took an interest in art, an interest in which his mother encouraged by giving him an expensive for the time set of paint brushes which he still owns.Just days after his sister Adelaide was born, 12 year old Jakob's mother Elizabeth passed away. Jakob never believed her death was due to complications during the birth of his sister like he was continuously told by his father and the fact his father married the midwife that delivered the baby a lot sooner after the death of Jakob’s mother than Jakob was prepared to accept only increased young Jakob’s suspicions. Jakob continued to insist his mother’s death was no accident and eventually it was to much for his father and Jakob was forced to leave home at the age of 13 on the one year anniversary of his mother’s death . Jakob roamed through out Germany for several weeks on his own until an old artist by the name of Michelangelo Buonarroti caught him pocketing some fruit in the market. Feeling pity for the boy Mr. Buonarroti invited the boy home for a warm meal and soft bed. Jakob stayed with the man as an assistant for eight years before the old man died, Having been left everything by the kind old man Jakob remained in the Buonarroti manor and continued to paint until non-death on New Years Eve 1555 at the age of 24.

The last thing Jake remembers about the night he died is walking up the stone walk in town on his way to a New Year party he had been running a little late and took a short cut through the cemetery in the cold and snow. He has the vague remembrance of meeting a woman and having drinks with her at the party but most of the party it’s self has been long since forgotten

Over the centuries Jakob has lived in many places moving only when the locals started to grow suspicious of his ageless appearance. He has continued throughout his existence continued to study art growing more accomplished through out history. So accomplished in fact that the art work he has restored throughout time has appeared virtually flawless to the point many specialist have been known not to see the difference. Even in the present days of 2010 Jakob prefers to make his own paints like he did growing up centuries before. Jakob has recently moved into one of the original homes in the quiet town of Sampson. Not much is known about the mysterious artist by the locals.
